At AMC Source, we abide by a core value of service orientation. While we work with many organizations that exist to serve their members and communities, we also believe that we have a responsibility to serve our association community with the same passion. That’s why our team members lead by example through volunteerism and committee participation. Many of our team members regularly serve as volunteers within organizations that they are passionate about, but two in particular have recently contributed volunteer efforts in an especially fun way - FSAE’s Awards and Education Committees!
AMC Source Co-President, Gregory Brooks, and AMC Source Association Executive, Laura Caputo, J.D., recently participated in FSAE’s Awards Committee, which implements the awards program consisting of six awards. These awards included Executive of the Year, Associate of the Year, Executive and Associate Rising Star Awards, Association of the Year, and Supporting Associate Organization of the Year. Brooks noted that participating in this committee was a truly rewarding experience: “Our roles and responsibilities were methodical. The support, superb. The awards program was maintained at an esteemed level. Committee volunteers worked collaboratively to determine this year's recipients. What was most rewarding was experiencing the ceremony and the recipient's joy of being recognized by their peers.” Caputo added that this role was especially exciting because the awards are not announced before the Annual Conference, so award winners find out they won as their names are announced on stage. Because Caputo was in attendance at this year’s event, she had the rewarding experience of witnessing the looks of surprise and the happy tears first-hand. Caputo recounted, “On the last day of the conference, I had the great luck of sitting next to Mary Gupta, CMP, Director of National Accounts at Visit Tampa Bay, and I got to enjoy her giggle as Awards Chair Nealy Wheat described Mary’s love of running and Dave Matthews Band prior to announcing her Associate of the Year win. What a treat to keep that secret and to share in the joy when the news was revealed!”
In addition to Caputo’s participation in the awards committee, she also participated in FSAE’s Education Committee, which develops educational programs for the Annual Conference and FSAE events. “Attending a conference where I played a role in selecting the content was fun and interesting,” she explained, “I now have a better understanding of the pride that volunteers in my clients’ organizations feel when they participate in the conference content-development process.”
Brooks and Caputo both expressed their appreciation to FSAE for facilitating such rewarding volunteer opportunities and excitement to support the organization in 2024 and beyond!
